When searching for forklift equipment to suit your application, you must always consider the obvious details.  How heavy are your loads?  How long do the forks need to be to carry those loads?  Can the forks lift the load high enough?  If it ever needs to be used inside the warehouse, will it fit through your doors?  The issue of how high does the load need to be lifted and how low is your clearance to the top of the doorway is significant.  If you need to raise a load to great heights, but have a low clearance height to contend with, finding equipment can get a little tricky.  That is one area where the Swedish manufacturer Kalmar has an advantage with some of its DCD line.  They manufacture one of the industry’s few extra high capacity 36,000 pound lift trucks with a 197″ lift height that can clear a 15′ entry door.  This unique configuration makes Kalmar the ideal solution for applications that heavy-duty equipment lifting higher than most other equipment options without preventing it from passing into a warehouse with a low-clearance doorway.

Our forklift blog is a new endeavor for us here on ForkliftInventory.com.  We have been around the forklift business for more than a decade and work with several others who know forklifts literally inside and out.  The material handling equipment industry is a peculiar one, requiring a combination of technical know-how, a rugged sense of “git-r-done”, and friendly relationships among the good ol’ boy network.  It seems like everyone knows everybody in the business.  The rule of the real business-to-business world is, “Don’t screw up!”  Word gets around, if you know what I mean.

This blog is intended to provide buyers with some tips from the lift truck industry’s insiders. At the same time, we might even discuss some of the issues and war stories from the life & times of forklift dealers. Don’t be surprised if we throw in a funny ha-ha every now & then. Does blogging about a topic as dull as forklifts have to be boring to be useful to its readers? A little personality (ok, hopefully not TOO little) laced throughout the content that is now just a click away is going to be expanded gradually.  Subscribe!  Come back again!  Hang out by the Dixie cups and feel free to deliver a your words of wisdom and wisecracks.  Or, be really practical and post your questions to guys who buy, sell, own, and operate lift trucks for a living.

This is a blog for everything FORKLIFT!

(Ok, and container handlers, boom lifts, scissor lifts, reach trucks, turret trucks, side loaders, etc.  For the sake of accuracy, maybe we should stick with the term “Lift Trucks”.  Naw… TOW MOTORS!  There ya’ go!)
